A not-always-nice character like Greg needs a best friend who is his complete opposite. That’s how Jeff came up with Greg’s loyal and kind pal, Rowley Jefferson. Fregley, Greg’s oddball neighbor, is also totally made up. Jeff says that everyone knows a kid like Fregley. And if you don’t, then you might actually be Fregley. Working on Diary of a Wimpy Kid wasn’t always fun.
