Within the mystery genre, one of the most popular types of mystery is the Cozy. We at Thorndike Press are pleased to announce that beginning in February 2004, we'll be publishing the Wheeler Cozy Mystery Plan. Cozy mysteries are light-hearted in tone, taking place in nice quiet communities with lots of loveable characters and amusing dialogue. They typically do not contain graphic sex, violence, and profanity. Cozies have amateur sleuths solving the crimes; they solve those crimes through intuition and their knowledge of human behavior. Gossip details from neighbors replace forensic evidence as the protagonist solves the crime. Typically, cozies are shorter books that are quick reads. Cozy mysteries can occur anywhere in the world. The protagonists are park rangers, librarians, herb shop owners, bed and breakfast owners, bird watchers, golfers, fishermen, housekeepers, dog trainers, ghosts, gardeners, and more. Many times animals feature prominently in the books. The plan includes 3 softcover titles shipped approx. every 4 weeks.

Jerry Lewis Telethon, TV Star Lady, ‘cause no one, not even you, can see this prisoner.” Polly’s smile remained constant, although her voice took on a vague edge of irritation. “How do you know I didn’t just pop in to invite you to dinner at the plantation?” The policewoman stood up from her desk and rose to her full six-foot-plus height. “Promises, promises.” “Um, I absolutely did! I’ll check my calendar and have Placenta give you a jingle.” “Sorry, Miss Pepper, but I have my orders,” Betty

cabinet. There, in a catchall drawer, she sifted through a large number of DVDs that hadn’t been returned to their proper slots in the cabinet. “Ah!” she said, picking up the other discs in the series marked Anything Goes. She counted out, “‘Six of six. Two of six. Three of six.” In a moment she had accounted for all the other discs. “What would Miranda have wanted with an old movie musical with mostly dead stars anyway?” she asked, handing the discs to Polly. “Perhaps she has a sweet tooth for

exchanged curious looks with Tim. “I’ll Do Anything to Become Famous clearly would have been the ideal show for me,” she said. “Working just one day a week was swell. And the money was pretty great. That schedule could have given me time to earn a few bucks and still volunteer in the psoriasis ward at Cedars.” “I suppose that being the host of a show is much more time consuming than judging the contestants,” Tiara said. “Sometimes Steven doesn’t get home until well past the time I’ve gone to

The audience broke into wild applause with hoots and whistles thrown in for good measure. When the camera again found Richard, he was smirking and shaking his head. From the stage, Steven called on Brian Smith to offer his evaluation of Socorro and her rendition of “Torn Between Two Lovers.” “Heya, Socorro,” he said, “I’ve been there. I think we all have. It’s tough when you can’t decide, but here’s a bit of advice, forget the heart, go for the gold!” Again the audience erupted with applause,
